Video Producer

The Environmental Working Group has an immediate opening for a Video Producer to lead EWG’s video program, including managing a new, state of the art, in-office filming studio.

The Video Producer will lead the development and production of creative visual content to further EWG’s mission and communicate EWG’s latest science, breaking news and major reports, with an emphasis on optimizing content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.

What you will do:

  • Write, conceptualize, storyboard, produce, shoot, interview, direct, and edit video production work that supports EWG’s priorities.
  • Project-manage, optimize, and execute video projects.
  • Work with other departments to ensure that video content is tailored to the platforms and target audiences of the organization’s priority campaigns.
  • Collaborate closely with EWG’s social media manager to understand platform trends and metrics in order to optimize video content for EWG’s social media audience.
  • Measure the success of video content by monitoring and reviewing metrics. Use metrics  to adapt future video content.
  • Work with outside vendors to film interviews, B-roll and events that are not located in Washington, D.C.
  • Work with EWG’s events team to create content for specific in-person and virtual events, including making recommendations about technologies to support live and pre-recorded remote shoots.
  • Stay abreast of changing technologies, latest trends, software, standards, and best practices.
  • Select video equipment necessary to take full advantage of EWG’s new in-office studio. Make recommendations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience in film, photography, or visual journalism, with a digital media interest.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Premiere; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, with a foundation in After Effects a plus.
  • Experience with sound mixing and color correction.
  • Experience with cinema cameras and/or DSLRs; experience with Sony cameras (FS5) a plus.
  • Experience using a professional studio, including setting up lights, operating a teleprompter, directing on-camera talent and monitoring audio levels.
  • Experience filming and editing using a green screen.
  • Experience with product photography a plus.
  • Excellent interviewing skills, including the ability to draft questions and pivot in the moment as an interview demands
  • Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with internal teams.

Location:  The position is based in Washington, D.C.
