EWG is seeking a Web Developer to join our Washington, DC office. EWG’s web properties are a key way we raise awareness of our groundbreaking research and is critical to our mission. 

What you will do:

  • Work with the EWG design team to develop EWG websites
  • Build and maintain EWG websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Experience working with a CMS specifically Drupal and WordPress
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
  • Create and maintain website documentation

Qualifications and experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years’ prior experience as a web designer or developer
  • Programming skills and an in-depth knowledge of modern HTML/CSS
  • Experience developing the admin experience to streamline content administration, allowing authors access to taxonomy, media assets, and previously posted content
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding responsive design/mobile first, atomic design, and accessibility
  • Ability to convert design files into pixel perfect designs leveraging modern styling frameworks
  • Maximizes the ability to re-use code by leveraging component-based development best practices when theming in modern CMS
  • Demonstrated experience with JavaScript libraries such as JQuery
  • Passion for the web and the ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Details:

This is a full-time position based in EWG’s DC office. The salary is $85,000-$100,000 depending upon experience.
